The Art of Attraction: Tailoring Magnets for Eco-Friendly Energy Solutions
Pelin Tozman
(Athene Young Investigator at TU Darmstadt)
The content of my talk will be the magnet recipe, the difference between high and low-performance magnets, industrial magnet processing routine and their role in green energy applications.
Fighting cancer with iron and fire
Imants Dirba
(Postdoc at TU Darmstadt)
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Already Hippocrates said that “Those diseases which medicines do not cure, iron cures; those which iron cannot cure, fire cures; and those which fire cannot cure, are to be reckoned wholly incurable”. Here, we are attempting to use both, iron and ‘fire’, to treat cancer by combining materials science with medicine by using magnetic iron nanoparticles as heating agents for magnetic fluid hyperthermia therapy.
Miriam Mulorz
(PhD student at Institue of Molecular Biology)
